This implementation shows the power of the GEONIS Solution Framework. Waternet in Amsterdam is one of the 23 Waterschappen (Water Authorities) in the Netherlands is using GEONIS Blaeu for water management and grey water treatment.
GEONIS Blaeu is a solution based on ArcGIS and is Esri platform compatible. Waternet is also responsible for managing the waste and drinking water distribution networks in Amsterdam and surroundings.
One of the important features in GEONIS Blaeu is Profile. It offers the possibility to create on-demand cross-sectional profiles of waterways and water management infrastructure based on information stored in the geodatabase. This standard profile feature in GEONIS Blaeu supports different users in the organization with this capability, both on the desktop and web.

However, one user group was even more ambitious and sought an additional sophisticated profile function that would enable them to visualize vertical core profiles, created by boreholes and soil sampling. Royal HaskoningDHV, the service provider at Waternet, was able to configure and deliver this feature in Blaeu in just a few days. For this particular user group, the profile function now shows not only the cross section of a waterway but if required also the ground layer structure, which is important information to be considered in defining water protection measurements, for example.

This implementation shows the power of the GEONIS Solution Framework that is the basis for GEONIS Blaeu. Without one line of programming, standard capabilities can be enhanced purely through configuration. Moreover, the highly-configured application retains its product status due to a unique mechanism in GEONIS that allows easy upgrades of Esri and Geocom software releases.
