Pipeline Management with GEONIS
Mineralölverbundleitung GmbH Schwedt (MVL) stores arriving petroleum in ten tanks, each with 30,000 cubic meters capacity, before distributing it via a pipeline system to the plants in Schwedt and Spergau (Germany) for refining.
Mineralölverbundleitung GmbH Schwedt (Petroleum Network Management Schwedt chemical company) sees its responsibility in the transport, transfer and storage of petroleum and petroleum products using a pipeline network. After the discontinuation of an older system, and an extensive search for a new solution, MVL implemented GEONIS in 2013 for the management of its 730km of pipelines.
Thanks to the high level of configurability allowed by GEONIS solutions, MVL was able to accurately position components inside the pipeline, calibrate pipeline length calculations and generate flow profiles.
With the introduction of the “Land Map Book”, land parcels with their existing easements could be con-nected to their respective owners. This merging of long distance pipeline information with facts and figures on land owners and use contracts makes that all required data are available in one system.
The user-friendly data publication system, another very important component of the solution, makes the information accessible to a wide audience. This is made possible using ArcGIS Server, GEONIS Serfver and WebOffice. The pipeline route managers of MVL benefit from the fast and simple output.
