The new release of GEONIS 2021 ensures compatibility with ArcGIS version 10.6.1 and the latest version 10.8.1.
ArcGIS 10.8.1 is the last ArcMap version that Esri will continue to support until March 1, 2026 (ArcGIS Desktop – Product Lifecycle). Esri support for ArcGIS 10.6.1 expires as early as 2024 (GeoNet: The Esri Community). Accordingly, GEONIS will rely on these two ArcGIS versions in all future releases. An update to 10.8.1 is possible without any problems and is recommended.
VertiGIS solutions on ArcGIS Pro in the pipeline
The VertiGIS companies are currently jointly implementing a VertiGIS Utilities solution and a VertiGIS solution for cadastral surveying, which will replace GEONIS. These not only use ArcGIS Pro (the successor product to ArcMap), but are designed for the entire ArcGIS platform. This means that in the future you will have new possibilities to carry out your work efficiently and comfortably from any device. We will keep you regularly informed about our developments, either online or during our events.
Comment on ArcGIS Releases
10.6.1 and 10.8.1 are both so-called long-term releases, i.e. they are supported by Esri for four years (after their release) with updates. Patches are created and released for six years. Bug fixes concerning the geometric network are implemented especially in these long-term releases.
