With ArcGIS Enterprise, new technologies have been launched using distributed resources and the options of working together have been further refined and extended.
ArcGIS Enterprise is the renamed and reorganized ArcGIS Server product family and includes all components and functions, in order to make GIS accessible to your company via in-house infrastructure.
Base Deployment of ArcGIS Enterprise includes:
- ArcGIS Server
Is responsible for data management and provides layers, services and computer power.
- Portal for ArcGIS
Enables approval of maps, applications and other geographic information within an organization.
- ArcGIS Data Store
Is the data memory which manages information shared over the portal.
- ArcGIS Web Adaptor
The Load Balancer and Reverse Proxy provided by Esri, which the network traffic controls.
With ArcGIS Enterprise, new technologies have been launched to use distributed resources (Distributed Computing). All components from ArcGIS Enterprise can be distributed on several computers in order to optimally utilize computer resources.
Traditional use of ArcGIS for servers as independent Web Mapping servers is in no way impaired by the changes introduced in 10.5.
