Tips & Tricks: Spatial filter when exporting in GEONIS Data Converter

How can a spatial filter be used when exporting in GEONIS Data Converter?

As of GEONIS Data Converter Version 2017, it is possible to perform spatial filtering during export. This allows the user to restrict which area is exported to INTERLIS. This filtering option is available as standard for the NIS Industry Models.

In order for the filter to be applied during export, additional parameters must be defined in the FME Workbench and extensions to the XML are required.

The additional parameters in the FME workspaces of the NIS media are already integrated by default:

To make the additional parameters visible in the GEONIS Data Converter dialog box, adjustments must be made to the XML of the respective interface. The following is an example of a possible extension:

These parameters are now visible in the dialog window of the GEONIS Data Converter:

Afterwards, it is possible to select exactly 1 (!) polygon feature contained in the main data source in the GEONIS map and to only export objects which are intersected by this single feature.

The exported Interlis file can then be viewed e.g. in the FME Data Inspector. It can be seen that only objects that intersect the previously selected feature were exported.
