Powerful network analysis directly in GIS, from supply all the way to the consumer

With the integration of NEPLAN into GEONIS, it is now possible to run powerful network analysis and optimization calculations directly from within GIS, without having to use the graphical user interface of the network analysis software itself.

Network calculation algorithms help utilities simulate various supply situations and correctly judge their effects. The information gleaned is vital for investment planning and maintenance.

The network and its installations are managed both as assets and topologically by the GIS, from the supply source to the customer connection. This forms the basis for network analysis within the planning process. The increasing prevalence of decentralized supply sources, such as rooftop solar panels, are considered within these calculations.

Network analysis and optimization algorithms can be executed directly from within GEONIS, without having to use the graphical user interface of the network analysis software itself. As an example, short-circuit or load and flow calculations, considering the effect of decentralized supply sources, are executed straight from the GIS. The results are then presented and visualized directly in GEONIS, and they are available anywhere else on the ArcGIS platform.

NEPLAN AG, founded in Switzerland in 1988, and the developer of the NEPLAN® network analysis system, has become one of the world’s leading companies in the engineering software market.
